Tree 15 of my 100 Tree project: “15. Happy 24th birthday to my brother @lukedzwonkowski. Here is a tree tribute to what is perhaps his most heroic moment. (But to be honest— this started as a self-portrait, when halfway through I realized it was your birthday and I literally just added glasses and more arm hair, which did the trick). It was the fall of 2012. My dad, Luke and I were speeding down south to see @juliepetersen19 and @cindidzw. Luke drove, I rode in the passenger seat, with Dad in the backseat, probably reading some sort of commemorative Time Magazine issue about the election that had just ended. Halfway through Mississippi, a dog crossed the road about 15 yards from us. We were right on top of it. I, very helpfully, grabbed Luke’s shoulder and said: “Dude, dude… dude— DUDE—“ …a true lighthouse for him in this moment of panic. Luke, McQueen-esque, merely adjusted his rearview mirror to check his blindspot before giving a controlled swerve around the trotting pup. We were saved. It probably ranked in the top ten greatest moments of his life, if I had to guess. A moment he is sure to keep topping as 24 becomes 25, 26, 27 and on. Happy birthday to my beautiful, brilliant brother. I will say the version of this with me in it was better, though.” —June 4th, 2018

Tree 99 of my 100 Tree project. I can’t be the only one that fantasizes about the ultimate tree fort. Just out of frame is the ski-lift you hop on to get up there. And above, the canopy is so thick that rain is no issue. Enjoy a crackling fire while you watch a movie and then climb up to that hammock with a good book or peer into the infinite cosmos through that telescope. Just really doing everything I can to escape reality before midterms. Please vote. —October 28th, 2018.

Tree 28 of my 100 Tree project. Warning: slightly grisly and NSFW. Happy Father’s Day, dad! This is a stab at a Stephen-King-esque short story in which you are a supporting character. Fictional, btw! You were never the type to glug NyQuil— you were more likely to go chop wood in the backyard or something to work up fatigue. I hope you had a great one and I hope you appreciate my ability to get shit done right at the last minute. Love ya pops! —June 17th, 2018.

Tree11 of my 100 Tree project. This is me now —May 31, 2018

State News. We did a lengthy piece on campus gun control after the Sandy Hook tragedy. This illustration is an attempt to combine MSU's Beaumont Tower with the image of a handgun.

This is part of a collection of pieces for my uncle Ron Dzwonkowski, former Associate Editor of the Detroit Free Press. They serve as visual aids during his lectures on various Michigan myths.

Nice piece that tries to understand the origins of modern misogyny.

Poster for Shakespeare's Julius Caesar.

Caesar has this great line in the beginning of the play, describing his wife's nightmare that sort of foreshadows his death:

"She dreamt tonight she saw my statue,
Which, like a fountain with an hundred spouts,
Did run pure blood; and many lusty Romans
Came smiling and did bathe their hands in it."

So I took that image from the nightmare and blew it up into the main idea for this poster. A running theme in the play is how Caesar's assasination is going to be remembered and reenacted for centuries to come, so I drew the swimmers in modern clothes.

This is part of a foolish side project to read all of Shakespeare's plays, and make a poster for each.
